Gonna See My Friend Lyrics Pearl Jam

The lyrics were written by Eddie Vedder

Gonna See My Friend Lyrics:

Do you wanna hear something sick?
We are but victims of desire
I'm gonna shake this thing
I wanna shake this pain before I retire

I’m gonna see my friend,.. I'm gonna see my friend
Make it go away
I’m sick of everything,.. gonna see my friend
Make it go away

Buona Sera, won’t be long before we
All walk off the wire
I’m gonna see my friend,.. I'm gonna see my friend
for what I require

Buona sera, cut my quick
Don’t want my flame to get no higher.

I'm gonna see my friend,.. I'm gonna see my friend,.. Make it go away
I'm sick of everything,.. I'm gonna see my friend,.. Make it go away
I'm gonna see my friend,.. I'm gonna see my friend,.. Make it go away

Wanna leave it all
Wanna give it up
Wanna see it, gone once & for all

Wanna feel withdrawal
Want an overhaul
Wanna be there, hard as a statue
Black as a tattoo, never to wash away

Gonna take me an astral plane
I'm gonna tunnel through denial
I’m gonna shake this thing
I wanna shake this pain 'for I retire

I'm gonna see my friend,.. I'm gonna see my friend,.. Make it go away
I'm sick of everything,.. I'm gonna see my friend,.. Make it go away
I'm gonna see my friend,.. I'm gonna see my friend,.. Make it go away

  3. Eddie, I'm curious are these lyrics about the passing of a friend from this earth??

That was the first thing that came to mind when I read this and since I recently lost someone in my life I felt comfort from these lyrics.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    1. I don't think it's about drug addiction... Pearl Jam is too old for that...

  5. "I´m gonna shake this way
I wanna shake this day before I retire"

I hear too much about retirement on this album. Gets specially scary on the last verse of the the last track, which is called, well, The End.

  6. Wouldn't worry about Pearl Jam retiring. In an august interview Eddie was asked what he'd do if Pearl Jam was to end today, he said something referring to suicide and that "I'd take my guitar with me" :)

  8. I thought Eddie and Kurt weren't friends.

  9. Kurt despised Pearl Jam, called them corporate trash. He considered them a disgrace to grunge, despite the fact that Pearl Jam has always been known for pissing off record companies for doing what they want to do with their music. I love Nirvana but towards the end there, they probably gave into the record companies more than Pearl Jam has in its whole career.

  10. This song sucks.

Can't believe the album is from the same people that brought us "Ten"

  11. Sounds to me like a struggle from being here, on earth..."I can't be free with what locked in side of me" to holding grounded before perhaps a trip, a trip to the astral side...I think he will bring his guitar....I would.

  12. Can we think beyond the literal. Ed has moved wayyyy beyond Kurt....how long has the kid been dead. Ed never gave a shit anyway. Song writers are wrapped up in their own being too much than to think too much about Cobain. Could this song be about Ed,PJ and their relationship with celebrity, stardom and their adoring fans - who they never wanted in the first place but got anyway. F*** me grow up. Eddie Vedder has.

  15. Apparently Pearl Jam's members envolve maturely as musicians since da last album. Now with Backspacer da anger is almost gone replaced by da facts of life acceptance with a little touch of irony... without stop being da best Gen X standart (is there any GOOD grunge band these days?)...
